The process by which the various liquid components of a mixture are separated based on the difference in their boiling points is known as fractional distillation.
The various crude oil components are separated through its fractional distillation, also called crude oil refining. A fractionating tower is used in this process. The tower has different temperature zones, where various components are obtained. The detailed data obtained by fractional distillation of petroleum is shown in the table as follows.
